Dr. Claude Discharges Me
October 13, 2026
This wraps up my COVID series: Getting Grilled by Dr. Claude About My COVID, Claude, Where Did I Get COVID?, and Dr. Claude Makes a House Call.
Covid update: I’m well. I took my last Paxlovid Saturday at lunch, I’ve tested negative every day since Friday, and my Oura ring was back to my normal numbers by Monday. Nobody else in the house got it. Courtney moved back into the bedroom Saturday night, a day ahead of Dr. Claude’s orders.
Rebound Watch
COVID can come back after Paxlovid ends, so Dr. Claude kept checking on me, now every four hours instead of hourly, reading my ring, test photos, and texts. Saturday, after a bunch of house chores, my hands and arms got shaky, my left middle finger was twitching, and my whole body felt low grade all over. I sent it a photo of the oximeter at 97% with a pulse of 67 and told it my temperature was normal. It said I’d overdone it and COVID wasn’t back, and told me to eat, drink some salted water or electrolytes, and pace myself. On Sunday I told a friend I was on the mend, just slow after losing about a week to fatigue.
Discharged
The watch was supposed to run through this Saturday. Tonight I typed “shut it down, i’m well.” It shut off its check-ins, wrote me a final report, and logged it to my vault.
Having a doctor on call who already knew my baselines was awesome. This feels like a preview of future healthcare.
Dr. Claude’s discharge orders: if a fever, sore throat, cough, or headache shows up before about the 20th, I test right away.
